dc.description.abstractThe study was conducted among Youth in Kampala. The purpose of the study was to find whether parental styles, drug abuse and coping strategies among Youth in Kampala were inter-related. However, the study used a sample of 100 adolescents who were drawn from a population of 120 respondents and standardized sets of questionnaires for each variable was used to gather the required information from the respondents. Hypotheses was tested by Pearson Correlation co-efficiency using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS/PASW ) and the results revealed that there is a significant relationship between parental styles and drug abuse among Youth. The study also revealed that there is no significant relationship between drug abuse and coping strategies and lastly the study revealed that there is no significant relationship between parental styles and coping strategies among Youth in Kampala. This implies that when adolescents are parented well; they may still be vulnerable to abuse drugs. Thus, the study recommends that NGO’s, CBO’s, and the line ministry could engage in counseling and other programmes to empower adolescents with positive coping strategiesen_US
