dc.description.abstractThis dissertation is motivated by the researcher's need to explore how different tribes in Uganda especially Bakiga-Banyankore who have been affected by their mother tongues during the teaching and learning of kiswahili. Kiswahili is used as a lingua franca by the people of East Africa. For example in teaching and learning of ki-vi class of nouns in kiswahili. Bakiga find challenges in writing and articulation of some kiswahili words which belong to ki-vi class of noun since most of the words though with some differences in spelling and pronunciation. For that matter therefore, this research helps to identify the common errors made and hence being rectified Key words: kiswahili, Rukiga, KI-VI class of noun, effect , Uganda, teaching and learning.en_US
