dc.description.abstractThis study presents the effect early marriages on teenager's mental health in kapchorwa. The main objective of the study is to find out the effect early marriages on teenager's mental health in kapchorwa. The study used a descriptive survey design, since its dealing more with defined description of the facts and characteristics of the population at study (mugenda, 2003). The survey design is preferred because it allowed the researcher get detailed information. Results from the study showed that of the highest proportion of the respondents were in age group 16-18 (47.1%) attained secondary education accounting for 48.5 percent, were Muslim (33.8%), belonged to the rich wealth index (61.8%) and we're not working (67.6%). Results also show that the highest proportion of respondents got married at 16-18 years (26%) had their first sexual intercourse below 18 years (80.9%), married (73.5%) and had their marriages planned accounting for 69.1 percent. When asked about their stress, majority of the respondents agreed to a great extent that they got good swings (41.2%), that they felt isolated (47.6%), increased aggressiveness (55.9%) and lastly early marriages created general unhappiness among them (45%). The study found out that early marriages had an influence on mental health however it had no significant relationship with mental health. Therefore, the recommends that banks should come up will strict policies to combat early marriages, offer rehabilitation for the affect girls and also promote girl child education at higher education levels.en_US
