dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study is to evaluate the teaching and learning of Fashion and design at MTSIFA, establish the underlying factors behind this practice and suggest solutions guided by the following objectives; explore the teaching and learning of Fashion and Design at MTSIFA, examine how fashion scholars source their inspirations, identify the challenges faced by fashion scholars in fashion designing at MTSIFA and suggest possible solutions of how fashion scholars could be encouraged to create their own fashion designs at MTSIFA. I used grounded theory to acquire data for analysis, with thehelp of a non-probability purposive approach for proper selection of respondents. I obtained information from respondents through the use of an interview guide as well as a questionnaire. In the organization of data, I made use of qualitative data analysis. The findings were; there is little or no studio practice carried out during the weekly lectures of fashion design, students lack motivation and inspiration. In my observation, the fashion industry is growing at a very fast rate. This means there is a need and room tor sharper people who may want to blossom. There are many opportunities for the young in the fashion industry but it requires dedication, extreme hard work and self-sacrifice to shape a career in one of the most competitive industries in the world. It is best to build on well learned basic skills as a foundation to career in fashion on. One thing that is so important is to respect other people's intellectual property and not copyen_US
