| dc.description.abstract | The general objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between trauma, suicidal ideation and the coping strategies among adolescents. The researchers were guided by the following objectives; find out the relationship between trauma and the coping strategies among adolescents, to explore the relationship between trauma, and suicidal ideations and also to find out the relationship between suicidal ideations and the coping strategies among adolescents. The study had 30 respondents who were randomly selected from Namuwongo suburb in Kampala district. Both structured self-administered questionnaires and the open ended interview guides were used in the data collection process, and the data was analyzed using the statistical software package for social sciences (SPSS). Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient was used to determine the significance of the relationships among variables. Out of the three null hypotheses, only one was rejected which indicated that there was a significant relationship between variables i.e. between trauma and suicidal ideations. However the remaining two null hypotheses were retained which indicated that there was no significant relationship between the variables i.e. between trauma and the coping strategies and between suicidal ideations and the coping strategies. | en_US |
