This report is about a mental health tracker application that will be used by people to
track their progress regarding anxiety and depression as well as reach out to medical
personnel. We collected both primary and secondary data using questionnaires,
interviews, and focus groups which guided the development of this project. We
analyzed the collected data in order to know the target population that will use the
application. We designed and developed a mobile application that will help the
community properly deal with depression and anxiety. We tested the mobile application
to make sure it is working correctly and made necessary improvements to it. We
launched the application on the Play Store to make it available to the community.
We used Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to analyze the collected data.
We used Figma, a prototyping tool to design the user interfaces. We used Flutter SDK
and Dart programming language for developing the front end. We used Firebase, a
Google back-end application development software as a database as well as
authentication of users and to store some data in firestore. We also used the python
programming language to implement the machine learning algorithm for classification.
We used GitHub to collaborate with other developers who cloned the app, tested it by
providing some input data, and interacted with the application. We followed the
launching procedures to launch the application on the play store. We found out that
anxiety and depression are within the public and the application developed will really
help reduce the specified mental health disorders. According to the analysis we found,
25% of Ugandans are victims of anxiety and depression. We concluded that the
application developed is worth the need and will be helpful to the public and encourage
the entire public at large to use the application for self-health examination on
depression and anxiety disorders.
