Peer relations, substance use and school attendance among school going adolescents in Kawempe division

Many students are still thought to face high levels of substance abuse and this has been attributed to peer relations. This research set out to examine the relationship between peer relations, substance use and school attendance among school going adolescents. A correlational study design that was quantitative and descriptive was adopted to establish the relationship between the variables. A total of 132 respondents, both male and female participated in the study. Data collected was analyzed using statistical package for social sciences [SPSS],where Pearson correlation co efficient [r] was used to test the significance of hypotheses .The study revealed that there was significant relationship between peer relations and substance abuse; the study also revealed that there was a significant relationship between substance abuse and school attendance . The study further showed that peer relations and school attendance have significant relationship.
