Automated Power Monitoring and Management System (APMMS) is a system that’s expected to lower surprises of high electricity bills and cut costs by making its users aware of the real time power consumption through giving the users the freedom to observe, control and manage the devices connected to power. It puts the user in control and enables them to manipulate the usage of power by any device that will be connected to the APMMS. The system is meant to help users to get time to plan on how and which device is supposed to consume which amount of electricity. Users shall interface the system through a web interface that communicates to raspberry pi. Commands will be sent from the web interface to the raspberry pi which executes them through relays that in turn control the behavior of the appliances by changing states. APMMS is expected to capture the performance and status of the gadgets that will be connected to it and display it to the user’s web portal in close to real time.en_US
This documentation contains a detailed description of the development of an Automated Power Monitoring And Management System (APMMS) that enables users to view the real time consumption trends of appliances, control appliances remotely and timing them automatically. The system development life cycles were observed and followed to assist in the successful development of this system, starting from requirements collection and specification to system validation and testing. Questionnaires were used during data collection .the collected data aided in coming up with concrete requirements after performing a data analysis on the collected data. The implementation phase was carried out using various technologies such as (PHP, MYSQL, JavaScript and HTML) for the web interface and (Python, C++) for the embedded system assisted by IDEs like Arduino, Pycharm for program code editing. The project undertaken was generally a success since it achieved most of what was expected.en_US
