dc.description.abstractThis research project was carried out in Biguli sub-county, Kamwenge district, Western part of Uganda. The main objective of this research was to analyze the factors that affect maize production in Biguli Sub County. The research had special interest in how various factors affect maize production. The main focus was on factors like main tools used in production, prices farmers sell their maize, highest level of education of farmers, marital status of the farmers and the access to credit facilities by the farmers. Data was strictly primary as questionnaires were designed and used to collect data. Data collected was analyzed using statistical soft wares like SPSS and Excel. The study population comprised of 120 respondents It was found out that majority of the respondents used hand hoes as their main tool in maize production, the highest number of them also didn’t have access to credit facilities, majority of the respondents also used hired labour as their main type of labor in production whereas education level had no effect to maize production The hypotheses tests found that factors like dependence on main tools and the highest level of education were not significant and others such as access to credit facilities, prices farmers sell their maize and the main type of labour employed were significant to maize production The researcher suggested that sensitization should be done to enable respondent acquire some knowledge about how credit facilities work and that there should be some training of farmers by government on how to use tractor and it should also subsidize farmers in order to be able to manage the purchase of tractorsen_US
