dc.description.abstract | Electricity is a major factor in the development of a country and can change the spiral of poverty and poor economy. However, extension of power grid lines is costly and time consuming. Unlike urban centres and city suburbs, the commonly affected areas electrica with no l grid line extensions are mainly rural areas whose distances are long and some which aren’t easily accessible using the common means of transport i.e. road transport therefore the average power consumption in such areas is very subtle. househo Some of the lds, health centres and educational institutes in rural areas don’t have electricity but rather rely on other sources such as solar power, firewood, car batteries and charcoal. For those that use solar power, they either have their panels mounted permanent ly on the rooftops of their buildings which makes them highly susceptible to theft or have to carry the panel out of the house every day the sun rises and back inside the moment it sets. On so doing, the panel(s) is normally placed at a certain angle facin g the sun on the door way of the house, windows or on a flat area surface where they can be easily monitored to avoid incidences of theft which is quite inconveniencing. This project is aimed at designing a system that will be easily retracted at the user’ s will, safe and deliver enough power to meet the user’s household loads. The project design is simple with less sophisticated embodiment designs (as compared to the present day retractable solar panel systems that are highly automated and computerised), e asy to install and durable. | en_US |
