Effect of superplaticizers in concrete.

Abstract

This report consists of five chapters each containing information relevant to the research study that was carried out. Superplasticizers are commonly known as high range water reducers because it permits low water cement ratio as well as the workability also affected. In very recent decades, superplasticizers have created milestones in the advancement of chemical admixtures for Portland cement concrete. The dramatic effect of superplasticizer on properties of fresh and hardened concrete has been studied and the properties of concrete inspected are compressive strength and slump test. To determine the effect of superplasticizers, an experimental investigation conducted and the effect of over dosage of the superplasticizer admixture experimented, together with one control mixed. From dosages of the admixture, the difference between in the concrete mixes arises, at amounts of 500 ml/100 kg, 1000 ml/100 kg, 1500 ml/100 kg and 2000 ml/100 kg of cement were prepared. With the increased dosage of the superplasticizer, compressive strength decreased and after 7 days and 28 days curing it is 22 N/mm2 and 25 N/mm2 respectively which was much lower than that of control sample. This over dosage of superplasticizer was found to deteriorate the properties of concrete with indication of lower compressive strength.
