dc.description.abstract | As the world evolves, more and more diseases have become endemic to human life. One of these diseases is cancer of different types. Among the different types of cancer that have continuously claimed people’s lives in Uganda is the breast cancer disease with many people only dying with/without receiving treatment. Some people die shortly after receiving treatment due to seeking treatment when the disease is already in its late stages.
Breast cancer normally affects woman but in rare cases, it also affects men. The aim of this project was to develop a cancer awareness system. Despite the high prevalence rates of breast cancer in Uganda, the public has limited information and knowledge about breast cancer, its symptoms and signs, where they can go for diagnosis and treatment and its effects.
Chapter One covers the introduction, background to the problem, problem statement, significance of the study, research scope, objectives of the study and contributions of our research to the community.
Chapter Two reviews related literature about existing breast cancer management systems.
Chapter Three contains the methodology used to obtain data from the field that informed the requirements for the breast cancer awareness system as well as the design and implementation of the system..
Chapter Four covers presentation and interpretation of findings from the field and the design of the system.
Chapter Five covers system implementation including methods used to develop different components of the system and major functionalities of the developed system.
Chapter Six gives a summary of the whole project, challenges faced, conclusions and recommendations. | en_US |
