dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Self-esteem, depression and substance abuse among adolescents in students in Kampala”. The study was intending to achieve the following objectives; to examine the relationship between self esteem and depression, depression and substance abuse, and finally to examine the relationship between self esteem and job substance abuse. A correlational study design was used to establish the relationship between self-esteem, depression and substance abuse among adolescents in students in Kampala.The study was using sample of 70 respondents who were adopted using sampling technique and data was collected using self-administered questionnaires and later analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Scientists). The findings showed that self esteem and depression are negatively and insignificantly related (p= .073, r=-.217>0.005) Furthermore the findings show that depression and substance abuse are negatively and insignificantly related (p= .026, r =.-068). However findings show that self esteem and substance abuse are positively and significantly related (P=.164, r=.004).en_US
