(Makerere University, 2024-11-13) Aanyu, Mary Goretti
This research aims at exploring the effectiveness of using clay sculptures as a medium for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and educating the Makerere University community. Emphasis will be placed on the social relevance of clay sculptures in promoting open conversations and studio practice in order to come up with a solution to the existing disease through using art as a tool and in particular, sculpture. The study will use both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods which include interviews, library research, observation, studio practice and experiences of students regarding HIV/AIDS education through clay sculpture. The study’s findings may form the development of new and innovative strategies for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. In other words this research seeks to contribute to the prevention, mitigation, and management of the epidemic through awareness raising and information dissemination.
