    Domestic violence, drug abuse and physical child neglect among adolescents in Uganda

    Domestic violence affects whoever is exposed: culprits, victims, and the children who witness the violence. It is important to understand how complex domestic violence is to effectively understand the systems that are affected by this crime. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between domestic violence drug abuse and physical child neglect among adolescents in central Uganda Kampala District. A correlational design was used and 150 adolescents participated in the study. To measure the substance abuse variable data was analyzed using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS V20) Pearson correlation co-efficient (r) was used to determine the level of significance of the hypotheses it was meant to determine whether there was a significant relationship between domestic violence drung abuse and physical child neglect among adolescents whether there was a significant relationship between domestic violence drung abuse and physical child neglect among adolescents, and whether there was a relationship between domestic violence and physical chilld neglect among adolescents hypothesis tested using Pearson rank correlation co-efficient results showed there is no significant relationship between domestic violence and physical neglect among adolescents (r = -005, p=959). Results showed there is no significant relationship between domestic violence and physical child neglect among adolescents. (r = -222, p = 027)
