Management at Abacus Pharma (Africa) Limited takes a lot of time to confirm with its specific branches in Uganda about whether the expected drugs correspond to the actual delivered drugs.
In case the expected drugs mismatch the actual received drugs up on delivery due to theft of drugs while under distribution, management may not realize it fast in order to follow up the causes of the drug loss. This was solved by the web based drug distribution information management system that can easily provide timely feedback to the head office on the human drugs distributed to the registered branches like Nakawa, William street (I and II), Wilson road (I and II), namirembe road, Johnstone street, Jinja, Arua, Gulu, Mbale, Mbarara and Lira branches.
The researchers achieved the objectives of the project by carrying out a study using data collection tools like questionnaires and interview guides. The project was designed using data flow diagrams and entity relationship diagrams. It was developed with HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript and MySQL. The project provides an assurance that the sender can be provided with the proof of human drug delivery and the recipient is provided with a proof of the sender’s identity so that none can deny the involvement in the human drugs distribution.
The researchers recommend that the project can be improved in future to using mobile technology in information dissemination.
