A Project Report Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Award of the Degree of Bachelor of Records and Archives Management of Makerere University.en_US
Proper records management will promote efficient and effective organizational performance in ways such as regulatory compliance, minimizing litigation risks, making informed decisions, promoting accountability among others. The major aim of the project was to investigate the indexing scheme used for records relating to YLP at the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development in order to address the gap in the existing system and design an index as a way to solve the challenges faced during management of records at the ministry. The study used a case study approach which was quantitative in nature, observation and interviews were as well used as methods of collecting data. The key data collection tools were interviews supplemented by observations. The key finding of the study was that the MGLSD uses accession registers to access records and it is sometimes time consuming. The study proposed new records indexing system for records on Youth Livelihood Programmes at the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development in Uganda because the already existing system does not accommodate all the available records in custody.en_US
