Design and construction of a tire pressure monitoring system.
Abstract
Tire pressure monitoring systems are modules introduced in vehicles to
monitor and analyse the tire pressure condition at any time. In this report
two approaches were analysed that is direct and indirect tire pressure
monitoring systems. Direct tire pressure monitoring systems refers to the
use of a pressure sensor directly mounted on the wheels or tires of a vehicle.
The pressure inside the tire is measured using a pressure transducer with the
pressure information being subsequently sent to the vehicle to warn the
driver of under or over inflation of a tire. Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring
Systems are the systems that do not have air pressure sensors inside the tires.
Rather, they detect a low tire by comparing relative wheel speeds via the
Anti-lock Brake System wheel speed sensors. When a tire loses air, its
diameter decreases slightly. This project is majored on direct tire pressure
monitoring system as it shows more accuracy as compared to the direct tire
pressure monitoring system. The system was simulated using Proteus
software that employs code using Arduino IDE and results were acquired
and system tested before construction
