Peer pressure, drug abuse and coping strategies among adolescents at Makerere College School
Abstract
The study was conducted among adolescents in Makerere College School. The purpose of the study was to find whether peer pressure, drug abuse and coping strategies among adolescents are inter-related. However, the study used a sample of 100 adolescents who participated in the study and standardized sets of questionnaires for each variable was used to gather the required information from the respondents. Hypotheses was tested by Pearson Correlation ecoefficiency using SPSS and the results revealed that there is a significance relationship between peer pressure and drug abuse among adolescents. The study also revealed that there is a significance relationship between drug abuse and coping strategies and lastly the study revealed that there is a significance relationship between peer pressure and coping strategies among adolescents. Discussion of the results in relation to the literatures was presented in chapter five, recommendations and area for further research were indicated and references and citations clearly shown.
