    Abstract
The study examines the irony in Wakayima tales. With the help of primary and secondary sources the study generates about eight folk tales in the Luganda language and later translated in English. The eight selected Wakayima tales are ironical with different thematic concerns in them, lessons drawn from them to help in teaching morals to society thus leading to continuity and preservation of morals in society. The study goes ahead to look out for what different scholars say about folktales and irony, their similarities and differences.
