The participation in physical activities by the residents of Lungujja Parish in Rubaga North Constituency, Kampala District
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to establish statistics regarding involvement of Lungujja residents in Physical Activities. This was in the topic of the "Participation In Physical Activities by the Residents of Lungujja Parish in Rubaga North Constituency Kampala District. The objectives of the study were to establish the kind of physical activities performed, the average number of people taking part, the gender proportionality and the age groups taking part in physical activity. The research targeted the residents of Lungujja parish in Rubaga Division, Kampala District, both male and females of all ages. The research used cluster sampling technique where the clusters represented the villages in Lungujja. Kitunzi and Makamba villages were randomly selected. The research employed observation techniques of counting and recording the number of people actively participating in physical activity at a given time. The data was then subjected to descriptive frequency and percentage computations and presented in statistical form. The findings indicated football, jogging, skating, cycling and netball as the observed sports activities. This was with a daily average number of 112 males and 6 females. Among the children, 2.7% were females and 97.3% were males. The youth, 94.2% of the participants recorded were males and 5.8% were females. The adults, 91% were males and 9% were females. Generally, 54% of the participants were recorded in the afternoon and 46% in the morning.
