Ulinganishi wa nafasi ya vijana katika tamthilia za kisasa na zamani (1950-1980) na (1990-2000): comparison of the role of youth in modern and ancient dramas (1950-1980) and (1990-2000)
Abstract
English Translation of the Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the interrogation of young characters using selected old and modern dramas, in order to discover the young people's narratives as the authors of various dramas presented them. This study had two specific objectives which were to evaluate the interplay of young characters in old and modern dramas and to explore the relationship between young people's interiors in old and modern dramas. Data was collected from the library through careful reading of selected dramas as well as various articles. This study has used a realistic approach that reflects the realities of life in society. Data analysis has shown that the authors of the old dramas which are the drama The Cry of Justice written by A. mazrui in 1981 as well as the Kinjeketile drama written by Ibrahim N. Hussein in 1969, and the modern ones which are Said's silent drama. A. Mohamed in 2011 along with the Umarx Kaptula drama written by Ephrase Kezilahabi in 2010, have portrayed young characters in their work and given them similar roles. The results of this study showed that modern and ancient playwrights have portrayed young characters by giving them similar roles and qualities for example they are patriots, activists for justice, opponents of bad leadership and relentless. In conclusion we have found that modern and ancient playwrights have portrayed young actors by giving them similar roles in a large percentage by showing that they as young people are passionate about fighting for justice as well as sacrificing light to die for their country. Thus the writers of modern and ancient plays show that young people are oppressed by the regime and deprived of the opportunity to be given leadership as a result of this study. We have suggested that some researchers may work on interviewing other types of characters such as young women and the elderly to bridge the gap of young characters in society, the presence of more drama writers in the country to eliminate the shortage of drama books.
