    A website for marketing Mengo senior secondary school library

    Abstract
    This study aimed at designing a marketing website for library services of Mengo Senior Secondary School. The study objectives were; to identify the methods of marketing information services and resources in Mengo Senior Secondary School library, to find out the challenges in Marketing of Library’s Services, to identify requirements for a website for marketing library resources and to design a website for marketing Mengo Senior Secondary School library. The study employed a case study research design. The study targeted population was 830 from which a sample size of 46 respondents including 2 librarians, 12 teachers and 32 students was selected. Questionnaire, interview, observation and document review were the data collection methods used during the study. The data was analyzed by use of frequency tables, percentages and narrations and the results of the data analyzed revealed that the need for marketing library and information services is to achieve the objectives of the library and enlighten the users on the relevance of library use. The study findings show that lack of a library website is the leading challenge that influences utilization of Mengo Senior Secondary School Library. The other challenges that hinder utilization of Mengo SSS Llibrary include limited funds and lack of facilities to market library services. The study recommended that Mengo Senior Secondary School library should use a website to market its services to its users. Also more funds should be allocated to Mengo Senior Secondary School to ensure marketing of its services. It was also recommended that trainings, workshops, seminars should be organized for Librarians to enlighten them on how to market library services. From the study findings, it was concluded that a marketing website of library information services is necessary in order to achieve the objectives of the library and to enlighten the users on the relevance of library use.
