Job experience, employee engagement and job performance among employees of Kampala Capital City Authority.
Abstract
The study aimed at examining the relationship between job experience, employee engaged and job performance among employees of K.C.C A Rubaga division. The study adopted a quantitative study design which was correlation in nature with a population of 139 employees. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 100 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered standard questionnaire and entered in the computer for analysis through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 23. Descriptive statistics showed that 71.3% of the respondents were male and 28.7% were female, majority was between 20-29 years (80.7%). Results from
Pearson product moment correlation coefficient (r) further indicated that there was a positive relationship between job experience and employee engagement, ((r= .566, p=.OOO), as well employee engagement and job performance (r=.701", p=.OOO), and there was also a significant positive relationship between job experience and job performance, (r=.681", p=.OOO). Therefore, the present study provides a basis and implications for further investigation on the relationship between job experience, employee engagement and job performance among employees of different companies in Kampala.
It was recommended that the management of K.C.C.A, needs to put more effort in supporting staff to gain experience so that they get engaged at work place and hence perform well.
