Quantifying mortar expended in joints and man hours required for erecting block walls.
Abstract
This research presents a study of quantifying mortar expended in joints in the erection of block walls on building construction sites around Kampala working at a height between 0 and 3 m from ground level first measuring the vertical and horizontal bond joint thicknesses and volume of mortar used then calculating the mortar wastage. The study involved field observation and time studies for a period of about six months generating different mortar wastage percentages for the walls.
