Impact of motivation on employee satisfaction and job performance among Smokey’s restaurant and lounge
Abstract
Organizations like Smokey’s Restaurant and Lounge It was based on three objectives namely; to find out the influence of employee motivation on job satisfaction, to assess the relationship between employee motivation and performance and to investigate whether job satisfaction moderates the relationship between employee motivation and performance among employees. The study used employed an exploratory case study design using both qualitative and quantitative tools. It also used Simple Random Sampling during the process of data collection from the study respondents that was totaling to 50 people.
The study concludes that Smokey’s Restaurant and Lounge use differing ways of motivational tools in motivating its employees, that employees are motivated for many reasons like; helping them in organizations to perform their work as assigned, to maintain employees to employers relationship, to encourage employees performance their efficiently and effectively, to help employees solve their personal problems, to encourage team work as well as improving on the employees morale at their work places to perform better for improved organizations performance. Still that there a relationship between motivation and employee performance of Smokey’s Restaurant and Lounge. This was evidenced by the chi square calculated (Xo2) that was 46.08 while chi square tabulated (Xc2) was 3.84 at 1 level degree of freedom from 5% level of significance that made the findings statistically significant.
The study recommends that government involvement should take part in recommending the provision of motivational needs through adjusting in the labour laws, that there should a greater balance between employees’ needs and organizational needs.
Lastly, that effectiveness of salary motivation on performance of private firms in Uganda and the relationship between employee motivation and labour turn over in organizations are recommended for further studies.
