Quantifying mortar expended in joints and man hours in the erection of a Masonry Brick Wall.
Abstract
This research presents a study of the most common brick bonding styles of header and stretcher
built and man hours on building construction sites around Kampala and Wakiso working at a
height between [0-1.5]m and [1.5-3.0]m the different tasks involved in construction of the
different bonding style and then quantifying mortar volumes generated from different masons for
the bonding styles of either internal or external walls. The study involved field observation and
volume studies for a period of about five months generating different mortar volume used and
percentage wastage for each bonding styles.
