Intimate partner violence, depression and contraceptive usage among women
Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the association between Intimate Partner Violence, Depression and Contraceptive Usage among Women. The study followed the following objectives; to find out whether there is an association between intimate partner violence and contraceptive usage among women, depression and contraceptive usage among women and intimate partner violence among women. The study targeted 91 women and a quantitative study design which employed a correlation research design method to establish the association between variables was used. A purposefully constructed self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from the 91 respondents. Collected data was analyzed using software called Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS-24) to find the level significance of the hypothesis. The study results showed that there is a significant relationship IPV and Depression [ x2 (1, 91) = [10.667], p = (0.001)]. Furthermore, results showed that there is a significant relationship between Intimate partner violence and contraceptive usage and is a significantly related to Contraceptive Usage among women [ x² (1,91) = (3.963), p= (0.046)]. The results revealed that there is a significant relationship between Depression and Contraceptive Usage and is not significantly related to depression among women [x² (1,91) = (5.888), p= (0.015)
