Assessing the environmental impact of highway roads in Uganda.
Abstract
Road infrastructure is one of the key components of Uganda’s development. This is because new roads bring development to previously underdeveloped areas but sometimes this development can cause significant effects on the environment and the lifestyle of the people living near road.
The construction of Entebbe Express way is one of Uganda’s major transportation
infrastructure projects which also has resulted into various negative impacts like
environmental degradation, water pollution, noise pollution, air pollution.
The study aims at improving on the assessment of road developments made in infrastructure
in Uganda by assessing the environmental impacts of highway roads in Uganda.
The study finds out that construction of the road brings various changes to the environmental
situation of the people and nearby communities located along the road. These changes have
been mostly negative in reference to the environment and in specific vegetation, weather,
