    Employee motivation and performance on building construction projects. A case of selected building projects in Gulu east, Gulu city.

    Abstract
    This study investigated the effect of employee motivation on the performance of construction projects considering a case of Gulu district. It was guided by the following specific objectives; to examine the effect of payment on the performance of a selected construction projects; to examine the effect of working condition on the performance of a selected construction projects; and lastly to examine the effect of working relationship on the performance of a selected construction projects. This study used a cross sectional research design and quantitative research approached where primary data was collected from employees in building construction projects using questionnaire. Simple random sampling was used to select employees to participate in the study. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis technique with the aid of SPSS software. This study found out that there is no significant effect of payment on the performance of selected construction projects in Gulu district. As well, it was established that there is no significant effect of working condition on the performance of selected construction projects in Gulu district. In addition, the study also found out that there is a positive significant effect of working relationship on the performance of selected construction projects in Gulu district. This study recommends that in a bid to enhance the performance of construction projects in Gulu district, construction project managers should put in more efforts in building a favorable and constructive working relationship amongst workers through promoting friendliness and helpfulness amongst workers and ensuring provision of feedback by supervisors to the subordinates.
