    Abstract
A skin abscess is a painful collection of pus that accumulates under the skin. Skin abscesses are usually bacterial infections that occur when the skin integrity is compromised with one of the main causative agents being Staphylococcus aureus. Whereas a number of conventional medicines exist for management of abscesses, these are associated with resistance, inaccessibility, high costing and toxicity. Sida rhombifolia Linn. (Malvaceae), a local medicinal plant used in a crude form to manage skin abscesses in Kabale district, can provide a safe and effective alternative to the conventional drugs. In this study, a topical solution contains extracts of leaves of Sida rhombifolia Linn was developed for management of skin abscesses.
