    Abstract
    This is a project report about the development of lost and found document retrieval mobile application that curbs the struggle of recovering lost documents. The report consists of six chapters: Chapter one focuses on the main study which is the issue of recovering lost documents which is mainly manual and also the web-based systems such as the government portal entail lengthy procedures which are sometimes un necessary, the major objective of this study is to develop a mobile application to solve this problem. Chapter two reviews the previous works done similar to this study. It describes the existing systems, the limitations and weaknesses of these systems. This chapter describes the new features we developed in our mobile application to address some of the existing problems in the existing systems. Chapter three describes the various methodologies used during the study. These include the software development methodologies and the data collection techniques deployed. Chapter four consists of the study, analysis and design phase of our study, here we look at the findings from the questionnaires and interview sessions we held. The chapter shows the analysis of the data from the respondents. The system architecture, requirement modeling, process modeling and data modeling are included in this section. Chapter five describes the implementation, testing and validation processes. The technologies used which included the PHP (hypertext preprocessor), MySQL (structured query language), XML (extensible markup language), Java, and JSON (javascript object notation). User interfaces screenshots are shown together with the test cases and validation process. Chapter six concludes this report with the achievements, challenges faced, recommendation and areas of future research.
