progress of technology has led to the development of various social media platforms and

and this further more encourages digital marketing that ensures the practice of attracting
consumers through various electronic platforms.”
With this knowledge, a research study was conducted to develop a web-based affiliate
marketing platform or system that provides a cheaper form of advertising goods or services
as a solution to the high costs of advertising in the market infrastructure of Uganda that have
inhibited the growth and development of small and medium size enterprises (SMES). The
implemented system was designed as a web-based system and followed a client/server
architecture with programming languages that included MySQL, Laravel (a PHP backend
framework), HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
The system was developed while following the agile software development methodology and
findings from the study’s evaluation implied that the developed system was able to meet its
presumed expectations and it can be concluded that the developed system can provide a
cheaper form of advertisement for the SMES
