    Abstract
This research has been conducted with the indispensable aid of the internet and its inexhaustible wealth of knowledge, the main reason for carrying out this research was to talk about imagery in selected Ankore Proverbs and how effectively the imagery in these proverbs enhances the understanding of the proverbs and develops the theme of child upbringing, not only that but the research also focuses on how these proverbs affect the audience or people that listen to them and also the circumstances under which they may be uttered where their utterance will have the desired effect. The study further reveals that Ankore proverbs are characterized by figures of speech which bring the imagery in them to life and enable one to effectively analyze and comprehend the imagery employed in the various Ankore proverbs and be able to respond to them appropriately, one must be familiar with the Ankore cultural traditions and way of life. The research has been conducted in Ntungamo district in Western Uganda.
