Abstract
This research is examines the message and the aesthetic values of Rutooro food proverbs among the Batooro society. Generally, it is meant to analyze and dig deeper into the food proverbs
beyond the entertainment function and plain messages underlying these proverbs. The research therefore looks at unveiling the deeper messages and aesthetic values that these proverbs presented which were not noticed. Proverbs were used by the elders to teach moral lessons to their young ones. I conducted this research to, analyze and discover as well as observing themessages that were being passed on through these proverbs other than entertaining the listeners. The methods included; interviewing, different respondents and informants in the field about their views on several food proverbs. It also involved close reading a method where I observed.Conclusively, this research has made me realise that the deeper messages housed in

aesthetic values embedded in them. If one needs or seeks to find more about them according to what they materially say, one may refer to the appendix of this research.Regarding the layout, I have put each proverb and the translation in a table form as per the guidance of my research supervisor. The explanation of each proverb, meaning, aesthetic values embedded in it and what every proverb teaches, has been put underneath the table made of proverb with her translation. I have tried to offer a literally faithful translation but also with some brilliance and sharpness so as to sound like an English proverb.
