An investigation into aquatic facilities as a branch of physiotherapy in Uganda's health facilities. (a case of Sonia's Physiotherapy Clinic.)
Abstract
Recently, in Uganda, there has been an ever-increasing awareness and engagement in aquatic
activities. These aquatic activities are grouped into utilitarian aquatic activities which may
include health aquatic activities, exploration aquatic activities, aquatic farming activities and
may others. Recreational aquatic activities may include swimming, sliding, boating, and
many others. In Uganda today, recreational aquatic activities have been explored to
commendable levels and the curve is still rising. On the other hand, utilitarian aquatic
activities are seen to be slagging behind for several reasons. This research seeks to lessen the
gap in this field of utilitarian aquatic activities by focusing solely on health aquatic activities
in Uganda’s heath facilities.
Uganda being a mixed economy means that whereas the government is directly involved in
resource allocation, so is the private sector and this is majorly profit driven. This has
therefore resulted in the growth od recreational aquatic activities because they are a more
profiting enterprise as opposed to the utilitarian aquatic activities. Never the less, with the
development of the economy, we can always expect advancement in any direction and of late
we can see the development health aquatic activities in some private enterprises while others
have plans of implementing them. This research therefore seeks to study the existing projects
in the field of aquatic activities in health facilities, set precedence and draw conclusions and
recommendations for the future establishment of these facilities in other health facilities.
