The purpose of this study was to assess the factors affecting credit accessibility among the youth in Uganda. Where by the main objective was to investigate the impact of collateral requirements, interest rates, number and distribution of lending institutes, and credit awareness, on credit facilities granted by commercial banks and other lending institutes. Thus, the independent variables applied in the study were; interest rate, credit awareness, collateral requirement and type of financial institutions, with credit accessibility as the dependent variable. The target population of the study were the students at Makerere University under the School of Statistics and Planning, from which a random sample of 196 students was obtained. The study then employed a descriptive research design where primary data was collected by use of online questionnaires. Analysis was done using frequency distribution, correlation analysis, and multinomial logistic regression to test the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. The analysis tools employed were Microsoft excel, and the statistics and data software (STATA). The study revealed a significant negative relationship between credit awareness, collateral requirement and type of financial institutions on credit accessibility. While interest rate was statistically proven to have an insignificant effect on the level of credit accessibility among the youth. Recommendations were thus made in order to increase the level of credit accessibility among the youth which include; redistribution of financial institutions to areas where the youth can easily access them, campaigns to educate the youth on access to credit facilities, and development of more loan schemes that target the youth, among others.en_US
