Academic stress, perceived social support and depression among adolescents
Abstract
The study's objective was to investigate the connection between adolescent depression,
perceived social support, and academic stress. The investigation was carried out at the
secondary school in the Kampala district. 100 school-aged adolescents who were enrolled in
the study, which had a correlational study design, took part. The respondents were chosen using
a straightforward random sampling procedure. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences was
used to evaluate the data after it had been analyzed using semi-structured questionnaires as the
primary data gathering instrument (SPSS). The relevance of the hypotheses was assessed using
Pearson's Correlation Coefficient (r). According to the findings, there is a considerable link
between adolescent depression and academic stress. Results, however, indicated that there is
no meaningful connection between academic stress and social support, as well as teen sadness
and social support
