dc.description.abstract | The main objective of the study aimed at examining the determinants of family planning use in
Karamoja region. Other specific objectives of the study put emphasis on demographic
characteristics of the respondents as the independent variables and family planning use as the
dependent variable. The study focused on establishing the relationship between demographic
characteristics and family planning use. The data were collected through questionnaires among a
random sample of women of reproductive age in Karamoja region and were analyzed using
logistic regression analysis.
From the research, it was revealed that women with junior/ post primary tertiary education had
increased odds of family planning use compared to those with primary education (p<.05) and
also women with the age of 15-24 (44.98%) years use family planning services compared to
other age groups.
Basing on findings of the study, it is recommended that emphasis be put on improving education
in the region if the government is to achieve its goal of increasing family planning uptake in the
country. We also recommend that the stakeholders should work hand in hand with the people to
solve the different factors that hinder family planning use. This can also be done through
government efforts to improve literacy among the people especially by investing heavily in
promoting education in the country. | en_US |
