Cocis Online News Application

Abstract

After a series of critical and deep studies, this report shares the design details of our project titled COCIS Online News Web Application. This is because before there was a paper bassed system of passing information to the students and lecturers at COCIS through use of notice boards and class whatsapp groups, which seems not to be so efficient. CONWA as an information system comes in to help on pass the past, present and the future information, events or news to an identified audience target. This report, discusses the design process of the CONWA, the problems encountered and what has been done to solve the problem, it also shares decisions undertaken during the overall experience of developing our system. The report also involves the analysis of field data collected and that we based on to develop the application whereby we used 28 questionnaires that we gave to college staff, and students. The collected data was analysed using excel spreadsheets. The project was designed using Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) for the process model and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) for the data model. It was implemented using technologies such as; Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for the interfaces, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) for styling the interfaces, bootstrap for responsiveness, Hypertext Pre-processors (PHP) for connecting the database and the interfaces, and MySQL for developing our database. This has made the CONWA system to be up and running
