The study was designed to understand the socio-economic and health effects of alcoholism on youth in Northern Uganda specifically in Pader Town, Pader district. The specific objectives were; to explore how alcoholism influences social interaction among youth in Pader, to examine how alcoholism affect young people’s engagement in productive work and to assess how alcoholism influences young people’s engagement in crime. The study adopted both qualitative and quantitative approaches to collect data from 40 participants, 30 young people (18-35) and 10 key informants. The study used purposive and snow ball sampling to select the respondents. The study found out that alcohol pushes young people into using immoral language. It was also found that young people that abuse alcohol are at risk of engaging in criminal behavior. The study recommends that implementing of government ban on some types of alcohol can contribute to addressing the burden of alcohol abuse among young people.en_US
