    Abstract
This research focuses on the form and function of imagery in selected Ankole folktales. A total number of nine folktales have been selected from the Ankole society as presented in theis study. That is, Abakazi babiri; Kicerena Nkuha, Abaroongo batakwemanya, Nyantahuura, Kenyonyozi; Omwanomwe, Benchita and Banturakyi, Abisikyi mukaaga benyinemwe aharugendo, Omwojo w'emicjwe mibi, Abaana mushanju b'enyinemwe and Nkwanzi na Muhoondwa. Chapter one of this research highlights an introduction to the study. Chapters two, three and four present folktales in both their original form and their English version. These folktales are arranged in three clusters. Each cluster is in a different chapter. In other words, every chapter houses three folktales. Chapter five which is the last chapter of this research gives a conclusion to this research. Basing on this conclusion, it is right to conclude that the Banyankole use a lot of imagery in their folktales. The significances of these folktales remain outstanding.
