House ceiling designing in Kiwenda Town along Gayaza Zirobwe Road in Wakiso District
Abstract
House ceiling is an overhead interior surface that covers the upper limits of a room. House
ceiling is not generally considered a structural element but a finished surface concealing the
underside of the roof structure. House ceiling designing involves different types such as beam
ceiling, conventional ceiling, suspended, plywood ceiling and others. The materials used during
house ceiling designing include plaster, plywood, nails, expanded metal wire mesh while tools
include hammer, steel float, wood float, hand saw and scissors. The purpose of the study was to
identify and establish the different styles of house ceilings designed in Kiwenda town.
Questionnaires, observation and interviewing were used as my data collection techniques to get
the required information about the study for instance questionnaires were distributed to different
respondents who participated in the study by answering questions which were generated by the
researcher. Under observation method, the researcher observed the process of house ceiling
designing. The research study was expected to increase awareness, knowledge and sensitize the
society about the house ceiling designs where to be built so as to suit with the available
environment as well as durability of materials used during house ceiling through the visual
recordings.
