Theme of suffering in selected Kinyankore fables
Abstract
This study investigated in the concept of suffering in selected kinyankore fables among
the Banyankole. The major objectives of the study were to analyze the characterisation
in stories so as to reveal the theme of suffering, to analyze the plot and events taking
place in the fables so as to portray the theme of suffering, and why were fables
emphasized among the Banyankole, to provide findings and give recommendations for
the study, more so to look at areas that can be aimed at for further research.
To achieve this, the researcher collected both primary and secondary data, a sample of
the ten fables in kinyankore and their translation was sorted out for the research.
Analysis on each fable was carried out in order to portray the theme of suffering which
was the main idea of focus.
Recommendations about how these fables can be utilized in our contemporary society
and conclusions were made about the research findings with the evidence from the
people of Banyankore origin who had a hint on the topic of the study “theme of
suffering in selected kinyankore fables”.
