Functional and structural evaluation of road pavements along sixth street industrial area road
Abstract
Pavement evaluation is carried out to determine the existing condition of pavements in terms of
its surface and structural adequacy. In the present research work the pavement is evaluated using
destructive and non-destructive methods. An attempt is made to evaluate the condition of a
selected section of a pavement on sixth street industrial area. Structural evaluation is carried out
to determine the capacity of the pavement to withstand future traffic loading and serve the
motoring public in a safe and efficient manner is adversely affected by the observable pavement
surface distresses.
Therefore, monitoring the performance of pavement will help to objectively determine the
current condition of the pavements and consequently a management plan for maintenance,
rehabilitation or reconstruction. From the analysis of data, the overlay thickness required to
maintain the pavement in serviceable condition is determined. Road pavement performance is
determined based on the requirements of the functional and structural condition. The functional
conditional requirements relate to roughness, pavement surface aggravation, while the structural
condition requirements relate to the pavement strength or carrying capacity in serving the load
and the traffic flow. The aim of this research is to evaluate the functional and structural of the
flexible pavement on sixth street industrial area.
