    Abstract
The current study focuses on songs as a style in Runyankore Folktales and has been observed that despite the decline in the meaning of these Folktales, some people especially our elders still use them to deliver meaningful messages to us. Therefore, my study discusses songs as a style and how it manifests other styles in Folktales for example; repetition, dialogue, personification among others. This research analyses eleven songs in particular Folktales that have been chosen. These songs involve other styles like repetition, dialogue, personification that have also been analysed in chapter four of my research. I used different research methods to acquire the necessary data for example observation and interviewing methods where during interviewing I was able to use tools like notebooks for recording the given data. The literary styles will therefore make songs as a significant style in the meaning of Folktales and oral Literature at large since it is evident that songs is an overall styles that is common in Folktales. Therefore, this study will contribute more to oral Literature in the aspects of literary styles
