In all cases, sex has remained a single major factor that influences substance abuse where it has
been discovered that substance abuse is more prevalent among the males as compared to the
females in the study area. Age, religion and year of study showed significant relationship with
regards to stress, peer pressure and but not substance abuse.
The results of this study are that most of the respondents get stress from their friends and
families and also the proportion of respondents who have fallen victims of substance abuse is
relatively small, but unfortunately that small percentage has a big multiplier effect especially
through peer pressure. However, since most respondents get stress, substance abuse will soon as
they resort to drugs as a way of running away from problems.
