Work life balance and job performance among secondary school teachers in Kampala District
Abstract
The study sought to find out the relationship between work-life balance and job
performance among secondary school teachers in Kampala district. The study intended to
achieve the following objectives to examine the level of work-life balance, to determine the
levels of job performance and finally to find out the relationship between work-life balance
and job performance. A correlational study design was used in the stud to establish the
relationship between the two variables. The study used a total of 174 respondents who were
subjected to a simple random sampling technique of sampling. Data was then collected using
self-administered questionnaires and it was analyzed using statistical package for social
scientist’s version 23 (SPSS) and Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was used to test the
hypothesis. the level of work-life balance was found to be high. Results revealed fairly high
levels of performance. findings also revealed that there is a non-significant relationship
between work-life balance and job performance. The levels between work-life balance and job
performance among secondary school teachers are relatively fairly high respectively. There is
relatively no significant relationship between the two variables. Several policies should be
drafted and implemented by administrators to support employees work-life balance rather than
solely focusing on obtaining profits
