Development of a Natural Language Processing Based System for Handling Academic Results Related Issues.

Abstract

The project involved building a virtual assistant that answers questions about Academic Re- sults, an Application that captures complaints/requests made by students and a text classifi- cation model that classifies these requests. To achieve our objectives, firstly data was collected which included documents that contain information on Academic results, then a text classi- fication model was trained using Logistic Regression and a virtual assistant was built using IBM Watson Assistant, both utilizing the collected data. Then a web application to capture students’ complaints/requests that they need to forward to the Examination results coordina- tors was built using vuejs and Express. Then lastly the Chatbot was integrated into the web application. The full web application’ performance is quite good at the test time.
