The relationship between personality and academic performance among students at Makerere University
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality types and academic performance of Makerere university students. The study intended to achieve the following objectives; to establish the levels of personality, to establish the levels of academic performance and to analyse the relationship between personality and academic performance. The study adopted a descriptive survey design which was correlation in nature with a population of 100 students. This research design allowed the researcher to study the effects of personality on academic performance .among Makerere university students. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 80 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered questionnaires and coded into the computer for analysis using Statistical Package for Social Scientists. (SPSS). The results indicated that there is no relationship between personality and academic performance. Therefore, the study concluded that personality does not affect academic performance of students.
